The Big Catch – Spring 2014

What do you get for the guy who has everything? Here’s one idea; a portrait commissioned for a friend of her husband showing off his Big Catch. This 8″x10″ watercolor on paper was painted from a photo taken over the winter in Longboat Key, Florida.  Big_catch_2014web

Siblings Portrait – Feb 2014

I just finished a charcoal portrait for a client’s stepdaughter’s birthday. It is based on multiple photos of each child because they live in different cities. She loved the end result and received a compliment as she was having it packed and shipped!

A new technique for me – Watercolor Pouring Technique

This week I’ve been playing with a technique that I saw in a video by Lian Quan Zhen which I love, love, loved.

Here’s a quick interpretation of this style of painting in a 4″ x 10″ Spring Leaves watercolor.

And some quick bookmarks made from watercolor paper scraps. I got Sug to help me with this one!

Past children’s murals

I’m finally getting together the photos of some past murals. Both of these were done in 2011-2012 time frame.

A Garden Mural for a small private local school, now the building houses Out of the Blue Polish Pottery, but they kept the mural (yay!).

And this is part of an Owl Mural painted in a newborn’s bedroom.

Dec 2013 – Cousins Portrait

Not as soft and detailed as my last portrait, but a quicker study of 3 bright and beautiful girls. Cousins, 16×20″ Pastel Pencil on paper with colored pencil accents.

Gabby Pastel Portrait

After working on portrait after portrait during my graduate classes (gotta know how anatomy works), I was a bit burned out. However, starting back again this past year with this young beauty was a wonderful experience. Gabby, 18×24 Pastel Portrait.
