What do you get for the guy who has everything? Here’s one idea; a portrait commissioned for a friend of her husband showing off his Big Catch. This 8″x10″ watercolor on paper was painted from a photo taken over the winter in Longboat Key, Florida.
This week I’ve been playing with a technique that I saw in a video by Lian Quan Zhen which I love, love, loved.
Here’s a quick interpretation of this style of painting in a 4″ x 10″ Spring Leaves watercolor.
And some quick bookmarks made from watercolor paper scraps. I got Sug to help me with this one!
I’m finally getting together the photos of some past murals. Both of these were done in 2011-2012 time frame.
A Garden Mural for a small private local school, now the building houses Out of the Blue Polish Pottery, but they kept the mural (yay!).
And this is part of an Owl Mural painted in a newborn’s bedroom.
A lot of the work for this project was already completed. The original muralist did a wonderful job on the background and environment features, but the client thought the animals could use a bit of re-working. It took me about 24+ hours to finish the 4 walls of the bedroom but I love how it turned out!
Not as soft and detailed as my last portrait, but a quicker study of 3 bright and beautiful girls. Cousins, 16×20″ Pastel Pencil on paper with colored pencil accents.
After working on portrait after portrait during my graduate classes (gotta know how anatomy works), I was a bit burned out. However, starting back again this past year with this young beauty was a wonderful experience. Gabby, 18×24 Pastel Portrait.
The new blog site is almost up and running, VERY EXCITING!! Maybe I’ll post more now that its easier than updating an entire webpage!
