Well it’s been a minute since I’ve updated my progress but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been working on my Arts & Crafts Cleanout. We’ve been a bit busy, had a lot of sickness going around and a bad case of the blahs, but I’m hopefully back on track – for a few weeks at least.
The most exciting bit of news is that my business is part of the first Small Shop Stroll for Douglas, Moultrie and Piatt counties on March 28 & 29. I’ve got a pop-up shop inside The Main Scoop Monticello for next weekend and it looks to be a lot of fun.
Something NEW
I used some fun money to purchase a big capsule gumball-type machine which I’ve turned into a Tiny Art Vending Machine. I’ve created various charms, micro-paintings, fabric tags and mini clay pieces to go into the machine. All from my arts and crafts stash and all will be available for $1 at the Small Shop Stroll. Such a fun idea that I found in a video by Palm House Studio. I’m still prettying up the vending machine so I will have some pics of that later.
Items from my arts and crafts stash used: beads, small wooden charms, watercolor paper, paints, thin balsa wood bought for my Cricut machine, air-dry clay bits and old address labels for mini QR codes.

A bit of decor DIY
In late February/early March, I spent a little over a week working on some house projects and spring cleaning (my kitchen needed it. Badly.). One of the projects was replacing our living room lights which were about 16 years old, sad and tired; with some fun (and dare I say a bit whimsical) low-rise ceiling fan lights. I relied heavily on my main guy for this, thanks Jamie ๐, and after only a couple trips to the hardware store and realizing not all lights have the same base width, we have some fantastic new lighting.

Old

Oops
Out with the old
Not everything can be fixed with a bit of tinkering! My sewing machine kicked the bucket and no amount of love revived it. Just too many plastic parts to be broken.
Lets be honest, I am not a seamstress and I run those machines without remorse. I am not careful AT ALL. So that lead to a Heavy Duty Singer machine which I’m hoping I won’t break. At least it was on sale! It’s setup and I’ve sewn a few items and I am really pleased. Fingers crossed!!

I’m glad to be back online with you all this week and hopefully this beautiful, spring-like weather sticks.
Keep creating,
Cara
